Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations is the title of the Met's Spring 2012 Costume Institute exhibition. Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two Italian designers from different eras are virtually talking to each other. The exhibition features several videos simulating a conversation between these icons of fashion and it’s inspired by Miguel Covarrubias's "Impossible Interviews" for Vanity Fair in the 1930s, the videos are directed by Baz Luhrmann. The main focus of the exhibition is about how both women explore similar themes in their work through very different approaches. The role of Schiaparelli, who worked in Paris from the 1920s, is played by actress Judy Davis. The exhibition is open from the 10th of May to the 19th of August, be sure not to miss it. |
