Piranesi’s fantastic towns
|
Giovanni Battista Piranesi is one of the greatest architectural artists of all time, (1720-1778) but is best known for his terrifyingly original series of etchings of labyrinthine and megalomaniac prisons, Carceri d'Invenzione. He probably influences great witer such as Borgues and Kafka or filmakers such as Terry Gillian and Peter Greenaway. Tomorrow a solo exhibition will take place at the Caixa Forum, Madrid. Don't miss it.
