Is it an elephant? Is it a sculpture? No, it’s a chair!

Last month we mentioned the fantastic work of the artist and designer Maximo Riera and it’s series of Animal Chairs.  A new piece is out now, it’s a fantastic chair-sculpture with a form of an elephant – the largest living animal on earth today known for its memory, intelligence and wisdom. In the Indian culture it is considered as the symbol of the supreme deity Ganesh who is popularly worshipped as a remover of obstacles.

This particular piece is produced using morph metric data to resemble the Asian Elephant species. The artist wanted to highlight the ties of the Indian culture using a carving pattern on the piece's chair section.  It resembles the traditional Indian furniture style reproduced with the help of an advanced software.

This technique makes the sculpture look incredibly realistic, judge it yourself.
